Come to our monthly MASSG meetings

New members are always welcome. MASSG meets at 2 PM on the third Monday of each month at Petrie Park Community Hall in the Monty Hub room, 16 Mountain View Road, Montmorency VIC 3094. Please email for clear directions.

There is no membership fee. However, donations are always needed and warmly accepted. Funds go to support organisations that directly support people seeking asylum such as the ASRC, Refugee Legal and BASP. We also provide support to local asylum seekers.

If you have any questions, please contact MASSG by email massginfo@gmail.com . If you’d like to have a chat, please let us know your number and we’ll give you a ring.

Join the MASSG Campaign / Advocacy group

In response to issues facing people seeking asylum, MASSG has formed a Campaign / Advocacy group. MASSG members meet when required at the homes of members. Please email massginfo@gmail.com to join the group and contribute to MASSG efforts.

  • Writing letters to politicians and newspapers

  • Planning and promoting fund raising and awareness raising events

  • Promoting and supporting organised events and rallies, e.g. Palm Sunday.

Help Raise Funds for People Seeking Asylum

MASSG raises funds for people seeking asylum through donations and fund raising events. MASSG welcomes community input to raising funds through helping to hold or attend events. On many occasions MASSG has partnered with local organisations such as churches and other community groups, both Banyule and Nillumbik councils and business organisations.

MASSG fundraising events have included:

  • Holding public events featuring noted speakers at the annual MASSG luncheon and other community gatherings

  • Theatre nights at Heidelberg Theatre

  • Film nights

  • Book launches

  • Community dinners

  • Gatherings of family and friends at home events and celebrations

  • Sales at local stalls and markets

  • Donations of food.

We welcome you to suggest/create any fundraising event your spirit is drawn to e.g. afternoon tea, raffles or food collection.
